Tour package

Amboro National Park & Samaipata

3 days, from/to Santa Cruz

Description

The National Park Amboró is one of the regions with bigger biodiversity of the planet and, with it, a wonderful tourist destination near the city of Santa Cruz. The small Refugio Volcanes is amid spectacular formations of sand stone, surrounded by cloudy forests – a true natural paradise, so far from the noisy modern civilization that you will easily forget about the rest of the world. In combination with the idyllic town of Samaipata, its pre-Inca ruins El Fuerte with Southamerica’s biggest carved rock of sand stone, this tour package constitutes a perfect alternative for a trip in the surroundings of the growing and bustling city of Santa Cruz in the Bolivian east.

Day by Day

Day 1: Arrival to Santa Cruz, transfer to the Refugio Volcanes
In the morning, we leave from Santa Cruz heading for the National Park Amboró. The park is characterized by its different ecological floors – they are as many as the whole country of Costa Rica – with its immense wealth in flora and fauna: more than 1.200 of species of vertebrates. 840 of them are birds, with which Amboró is one of the richest regions in wild birds all over the world. But it is also habitat of the Jucumari (spectacled bear), of the jaguar, of the puma and of diverse species of monkeys and a great variety of mammals, reptiles and lizards. Our lodge, the refuge Volcanes, is located in the south limit of the National Park Amboró, at only one hour and a half of trip from Santa Cruz. The protected area of the lodge (282 ha) is located amid an astonishing landscape characterized by rocks of gritty stone several hundreds meters high amid a tropical cloudy forest. To sum up: a paradise for every lover of nature and ornithologist. In the afternoon, first trip from the refuge through the cloudy forests of the park with fantastic views on the formations of gritty stone. Night at the Refugio Volcanes/National Park Amboró (B/L/D)
Day 2: Refugio Volcanes, trip to Samaipata
After a pleasant breakfast, we leave for a lingering walk through the grandiose landscapes and a refreshing swim in a natural pond fed by a waterfall.
After noon, we set out trip toward Samaipata. To the left, you will appreciate tropical forests, to the right fruit plantations and small towns. The highway opens up road thorugh a narrow valley, ascending, ascending to get to Las Cuevas, where you will be amazed by an entire series of waterfalls. Near the end of the afternoon, we arrive to Samaipata, a small colonial town, idyllically located amid gentle green hills. In fact, for several years, Samaipata has become the privileged place by many foreigners who want to escape from the modern world and to settle down in this paradisiacal corner of the planet. We chose a special lodge for you, located in a small hill in the outskirts of the town – ideal for a relaxed afternoon and a reparative rest under the vastness of the starry sky. Night in Samaipata. (B/L / -).
Day 3: The Fort of Samaipata, return to Santa Cruz
