Jungle Lodge “El Puente” – Carrasco National Park
Description
One of Bolivia’s most beautiful and diverse regions: The Chapare, covered with lush and year around green tropical lowland and cloud forest, and its Jungle Lodge El Puente, provides for nature lovers and adventurer a wide range of activities. In only 3 hours from Cochabamba, to reach El Puente Lodge means arriving at a welcoming but wild piece of tropical rainforest. The lovingly situated cabins, surrounded by lush green gardens, offer accommodation and serves as place of departure to discover and enjoy the local fauna and flora.
Day 1: Cochabamba – Villa Tunari – Gallito de las Rocas.
08:30 – 12:00: Transfer from Cochabamba to Villa Tunari- El Puente Hotel.
12:30 – 13:30: Lunch.
14:30 – 17:30: Visit to Gallito de las rocas-Andean cock of the rock (rupícola peruviana).
19:00 – 20:00: Dinner.
Day 2: El Puente Hotel –Machía Park – Carrasco National Park.
08:00 – 08:30: Breakfast.
09:00 – 12:30: Visit to Machía Park.
13:00 – 14:00: Return to the Hotel and lunch.
14:30 – 18:00: Visit Carrasco National Park (guácharos).
19:00 – 20:00: Dinner.
Day 3: El Puente Hotel – Canopy – Cochabamba.
8:00 – 08:30: Breakfast.
9:00 – 12:00: Activity: canopy at the hotel.
12:30 – 13:30: Lunch.
14:00 – 18:00: Return to Cochabamba.
Day by Day
First day: Cochabamba – Villa Tunari – Andean Cock of the Rocks
At 08.30 in the morning we’ll leave for Cochabamba’s tropic: Villa Tunari 3 ½ hours and 160 km, a quiet trip to arrive at the Jungle Hotel El Puente, where we’ll have a nice lunch while enjoying the exuberant landscape that surrounds the hotel: the jungle. After lunch, we’ll leave for an interesting bird watching viewpoint, where we’ll be able to watch one of the most amazing birds of the mountain humid forest: the Andean cock of the rock (rupícola peruviana) that because of its beautiful colors and nuptial behavior, calls everyone’s attention. It’s possible to watch these birds in the morning and in the afternoon, in a 2 to 3- hour tour, in which you can watch a variety of orchids, ferns and other bird species. Return to the hotel to enjoy its spaces until dinner time.
Second day: Machía Park– Carrasco National Park
After breakfast, we’ll leave for Machía Park. A place where varied and diverse wild animal species cohabit in harmony. In the park, monkeys, parrots, badgers and other species cohabit; it is a pleasant and nice experience for adults and children. Another park attraction is the topographic structure; from there you can enjoy a beautiful view of the tropical landscape and the buttresses of the oriental mountain range. Return to the hotel for lunch. After lunch, we’ll visit the guacharos with a guide in a tour that takes from 2 to 3 hours through a path in an intervened forest of Carrasco National Park, where we’ll have the chance to know the natural habitat (caves) of several bat species and the emblematic bird of Carrasco N.P.: the Guácharo (Steatorniscaripensis), a species with nocturnal habits that constitute the only nocturnal frugivore bird in the world. Besides we’ll receive information from our guides about the biological diversity that characterizes the Carrasco N.P.. After the visit to the guácharos, we’ll go back to the hotel for dinner.
Third day: El Puente Hotel – Canopy – Cochabamba
After breakfast we’ll proceed to do an amazing activity: the canopy, a circuit that consists of a pulley suspended by assembled cables in a decline or inclination, what makes the person, who’s doing this activity, glide from the superior part to the inferior one, impelled by gravity. Besides, this circuit also has a rappel, a pendulum, plus it is possible to enjoy a tour in the jungle paths and a swim in the ponds. An ideal tour for people with adventurous hearts who enjoy the adrenaline and top fun. Lunch and return to Cochabamba.

What to take: Villa Tunari is a hot and humid place, so it’s recommended:

6 Raincoat in case of rain
7 Comfortable shoes for the walks and the canopy circuit.
8 There are possibilities of cold fronts in the zone, reason why you must take warm clothes.
